Dear Fellow Christian School Leader,
We have been working with an exciting new pro-life youth ministry and wanted to take this opportunity to share it with you. It has made a remarkable difference in the lives of our students.
It is called Project 33.
Since becoming involved in this ministry through Sacramento Teens for Life, we have witnessed tremendous spiritual growth in many of our junior and senior high students. According to our students, Project 33 is about putting their faith into action. As they have gone out into the community, they experience what it is like to:
Witness to students at other schools;
Make a difference in the lives of young people of their own generation;
Demonstrate the relevance of the Christian faith;
Overcome apathy and the doldrums of the academic grind;
Learn to defend the faith in a practical setting.
In short, they have gained practical, hands-on experience in dealing with faith issues in the "real" world. Miss Johnson, one of our Bible teachers stated that, prior to becoming involved in this practical ministry, "Many of my students questioned the relevance of what they were learning. They said ‘All my friends are Christian; I don’t need this.’ Now, they are making a difference. They are anxious to sharpen their defense of the faith and are becoming at ease with talking to non-Christian youth about their faith, abortion, and other cultural issues. It's made a huge difference in the classroom, and in their lives."
Rohn Ritzema, ACSI Northern California director, in his 12/8/03 Regional e-letter stated, "Great Web Site - Great Program! ~ Cornerstone Christian School of Roseville has developed a fantastic program for getting junior and senior high students involved in the Pro-Life movement. I suggest you take a few minutes and check out their web site. If you have questions I'll bet Craig Garbe would be happy to answer them for you. Why don't you consider adding your school to Project 33? www.project33.org.
How can your teens and young adults become involved?
On Saturday, January 22, 2005, Project 33 is sponsoring a youth-led youth rally at Foothill
Community Church, 200 Cirby Way, Roseville, CA (see enclosed Youth Rally flyer for details). The vision of Project 33 is to equip Christian young people and their teachers and inspire them with regards to the pro-life issue. Our hope is that this will spark a work of positive change and have a noteworthy impact in our community. This is just the beginning of what promises to be even greater opportunities for our youth to help stop abortion in the city of Roseville, grow in the Lord, be a witness for Jesus, and make a difference in the next generation. We believe this will be a beginning for your teens and young adults to make history, not just read about it!
I hope that you will put this event on your school master calendar and make it a field trip for your Jr. and Sr. high. Please join with Sacramento Teens for Life and the students of Cornerstone Christian School at the Project 33 youth rally on Saturday, January 22, 2005 from 1-2:30 p.m. to help equip your future leaders to be a part of a new wave of young people intent on making a difference for Christ. We are providing a free pizza lunch to rally attendees from 12-1:00 pm that day (please RSVP for lunch!).
You are also invited to a memorial service on Friday, January 21st, the night before the rally, at 7:00 pm, also at Foothill Community Church. The service is to commemorate the 45 million babies that have been killed since 1973 and to minister healing and mercy to those scarred by abortion. See the enclosed Project 33-2005 SCHEDULE OF EVENTS for details.
Attached is a flyer that we would appreciate you distributing to your young people. We will have an eye-catching brochure that will be available by Friday January 14th. We would be delighted to supply you with as many brochures as you need. For additional information please visit the www.Project33.org website. If you have any questions, one of our Project 33 student leaders would be delighted to help you and to discuss ways your young people might become involved in this life-changing and life-saving project. A team of young people is also available to do a presentation at your school for an assembly or just a few students.
In the mean time, please do not hesitate to give me a call. I look forward to hearing from you and answering any questions you may have or to provide you with some of the new brochures. Please let us know how many you would like and we will be happy to deliver them to you.
For the Next Generation,
Mr. Craig Garbe
Headmaster, Cornerstone Christian School
P.S. Local pro-life leaders tell me that 50% of all young people getting abortions claim to be Christians. These same leaders report that many young people they talk to going into the Planned Parenthood abortion clinic (behind Spaghetti Factory on Sunrise Blvd.) are getting contraceptives and are very open about what church they go to in Roseville. Without a doubt, one of the most effective ways to minister in these situations is on a youth-to-youth level. Project 33 and Sacramento Teens for Life will help equip your young people and staff with loving alternatives to abortion as well as the practical training to minister to those who have been scarred by the horrors of an abortion.
